If anyone has some good photos from Giggleswick, please email them to me !
Just a reminder that all annual subs and training fees should be paid by the 15th January.  Many thanks to those that have already paid – that is much appreciated !  The amounts due are as follows
£35 training fees for the year
£10 annual junior membership subscription (unless your child started after 1st Sept 2018)  Alternative is family membership at £25
Total due = £45 per child in most cases.
If at all possible, please pay by BACS (Sort Code  20-47-61 & Account Number 33104362 )  If BACS is not possible for you, we will accept payments by cheque at training tomorrow (cheques payable to Settle Harriers)

Congratulations to the 21 juniors that took part in the Giggleswick KWL fixture on the 13th Jan! There were some great performances.  This was the 2nd counting fixture in our 2019 Junior Club Championships.  A report will be posted on our website soon.  If anyone has some good photos from yesterday, I’d be very grateful if you could email them to me so that I can post them on the website
Sunday 20th Jan is the KWL fixture at Whitestones. This one won’t figure in our own junior club championships but some juniors may be interested in taking part (warning – it’s quite a steep one!)
The KWL fixture the following week (27th Jan) at Birkrigg Common WILL count towards our junior club championships however (the course for this one is less steep/more runnable)
See here for all the KWL information  http://www.helmhill.co.uk/index.php/races/80-races/114-kendal-winter-league.   Also my KWL guide can be found here Kendal Winter League 2019
Remember that juniors need to carry or wear a waterproof top, hat & gloves in all KWL fixtures.
Apologies for having to cancel the final junior training session of 2018 on the 18th December – which meant no Xmas Cracker relays.  Conditions were terrible so we had little alternative.  The sweets and chocolates we brought for the event will be duly distribute in the New Year however !
The finals scores in the 2018 Junior Club Championship can be see here Junior Championship Table 2018
Well done to our 2018 champions, Seb & Charlotte, and to all those that took part in the championships.  Let’s have even more taking part in 2019 – the first two fixtures that will count towards the championship will be the Kendal Winter leagues on the 6th Jan (Scout Scar)and 13th Jan (Giggleswick).  See below for more info on these.

General Information about  Settle Harriers Juniors

Settle Harriers aim to provide opportunities for young runners in the area to learn about and participate in training and racing in the disciplines of cross-country and fell running. The Club is located in the centre of the finest natural scenery and training country to be found anywhere. Regular training and racing events are organised all year round open to all junior club members.

Junior training takes place on Tuesdays (term-time only) from 5.30pm – 6.45pm and our base is Eshtons Pavilion, Raines Road, Giggleswick, next to Giggleswick School’s all weather pitch.  During the winter months, sessions are held either on the all weather pitch (younger athletes) or on the fields close by.  Older juniors  may venture a bit further afield.

Our coaches are all qualified to at least UK Athletics Level 2 and we also have a large number of assistant coaches qualified to Level 1.  All these are also DBS checked.  Parents are welcome to help out at training sessions – we are always looking for volunteers.

We do require that potential new members register with us first as we operate a waiting list system due to the popularity of these training sessions.  To register your interest look at the information under the MEMBERSHIP menu. Our annual junior subscription is £10 and we also charge termly session fees which equate to £1 per session but payable at the start of each term.

Our juniors have their own junior club championship – a series of races that run from January until October.  They also compete in local leagues such as the Kendal Winter League (Jan – March) and West Yorkshire Cross-Country League (Oct – Dec).   See the RACES menu on this website for more information.
